It has been cold and cloudy since March in South China, temperature was around 15 ℃ in Guangxi and Guangdong Province, and below 20 ℃ in Hainan Province. The bad weather caused difficult labor of tilapia hatcheries.
According to Mr.Zhou from Hainan Changsheng Hatcheries Center, production in farm has been unusual these days, cold fronts made normal production unpredicted. Daily juveniles are around 400-500 thousand and they grow very slowly due to the cold weather.
Currently price of raw fish are going pretty high and purchasing price of 0.5kg sized fish is reaching as high as 12yuan/kg. Farmers are actively releasing fish fry and expand their farm area expecting a good harvest and profits. But as the cost of fish fry is rising by 0.03yuan each piece averagely, price of tilapia is predicted to go higher and higher this year.
